Mechanical

Diesel or Heavy Equipment Technician

Heavy equipment means big parts, high torque and fluids under pressure. Robots that service it need to learn the order and the hazards. You define those tasks in simulation and review the robot.

The work

What diesel technicians do in simulation.

We build the task in simulation. You show how it is done, correct the robot where it goes wrong and set what counts as done right. Robotics teams train their own models on the result.

01

Demonstrate

Show the steps of a service or disassembly task, with the tools, torque and safety checks you would use.

02

Correct robot mistakes

Review robot attempts and flag mistakes such as releasing pressure in the wrong order, the wrong lift point or a skipped check.

03

Set the criteria

Define the failure cases for each task and what a correctly completed service looks like.

Who qualifies

What we ask for.

  • 5 or more years as a diesel, fleet or heavy equipment technician
  • ASE T-series, OEM certification or equivalent experience
  • Based in the US or Canada
  • Able to explain the steps, checks and common mistakes in your work
  • No robotics, simulation or coding background needed
Pay and hours

How the work runs.

Rate
$55–75/hr for project work, depending on experience.
Hours
Part-time. You tell us how many hours a week you can give when you apply.
Where
Remote. Most contributions happen on a computer. Timing and equipment depend on the project and are set out before it starts.
Payment
For completed work. Scope, time and payment terms are agreed before you begin.
Contract
The application asks whether you can work as an independent contractor where you live.

We match people to upcoming projects. Applying does not guarantee an assignment.

Can diesel technicians make money training AI?

Yes. This role pays $55–75/hr, depending on experience, for part-time project work on a computer. You define service and disassembly tasks on heavy equipment in simulation. Scope, hours and payment terms are agreed before each project starts.

Is there remote work for diesel mechanics?

Shop work isn't remote, but this is. Most contributions happen on a computer. Timing and equipment depend on the project and are set out before it starts.

Will robots replace diesel technicians?

Not any time soon. Diagnosing worn, dirty, heavily used equipment takes experience robots do not have. They are learning narrow tasks first, and what they learn is shaped by whoever teaches them.

Do I need robotics or coding experience?

No. Each project gives you the instructions and controls for the task. We need your knowledge of the work.

How do I apply?

Fill in the application. It takes about 5 minutes and asks about your experience, your hours and one mistake a beginner makes in your work that you would spot right away. When a project needs your expertise, we reach out.
