Certified Surgical Technologist

Operating room robots are learning to hand off instruments, keep a tray in order and stay out of the sterile field. Surgical techs do this every case. You show the right way in simulation and review the robot.

The work

What surgical technologists do in simulation.

We build the task in simulation. You show how it is done, correct the robot where it goes wrong and set what counts as done right. Robotics teams train their own models on the result.

01

Demonstrate

Show how an instrument is picked from the tray, oriented and passed, and how the back table is kept in order.

02

Correct robot mistakes

Review robot attempts and flag mistakes such as a pass in the wrong orientation, a reach across the sterile field or an instrument set down out of place.

03

Set the criteria

Define what a correct pass, a correct tray layout and a correct count look like for each task.

Who qualifies

What we ask for.

  • 3 or more years scrubbing cases as a surgical technologist
  • CST (NBSTSA) or an equivalent credential
  • Based in the US
  • Able to explain the steps, checks and common mistakes in your work
  • No robotics, simulation or coding background needed
Pay and hours

How the work runs.

Hours
Part-time. You tell us how many hours a week you can give when you apply.
Where
Remote. Most contributions happen on a computer. Timing and equipment depend on the project and are set out before it starts.
Payment
For completed work. Scope, time and payment terms are agreed before you begin.
Contract
The application asks whether you can work as an independent contractor where you live.

We match people to upcoming projects. Applying does not guarantee an assignment.

FAQ

Questions from surgical technologists.

Can surgical technologists make money training AI?

Yes. This role pays $60–80/hr, depending on experience, for part-time project work on a computer. You demonstrate instrument handling and review robot passes and counts in simulation. Scope, hours and payment terms are agreed before each project starts.

Can I do this around OR shifts?

Yes. The work is part-time and happens on a computer. You tell us how many hours a week you can give when you apply.

Will robots replace surgical techs?

Not any time soon. Every case changes, and a good tech anticipates what the surgeon needs next. Robots are learning single steps like a clean instrument pass, and what they learn is shaped by whoever teaches them.

Do I need robotics or coding experience?

No. Each project gives you the instructions and controls for the task. We need your knowledge of the work.

How do I apply?

Fill in the application. It takes about 5 minutes and asks about your experience, your hours and one mistake a beginner makes in your work that you would spot right away. When a project needs your expertise, we reach out.
