What welding inspectors do in simulation.
We build the task in simulation. You show how it is done, correct the robot where it goes wrong and set what counts as done right. Robotics teams train their own models on the result.
Demonstrate
Walk through how you inspect a weld: what you look at first, what you check and what you would reject.
Correct robot mistakes
Review robot welds, flag visible defects such as undercut, porosity or a poor profile, and say what caused them.
Set the criteria
Write pass or fail criteria for each task, in terms a robot's result can be checked against.
What we ask for.
- Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- 5 or more years in welding inspection or weld quality
- Based in the US
- Able to explain the steps, checks and common mistakes in your work
- No robotics, simulation or coding background needed
How the work runs.

Can welding inspectors make money training AI?
Yes. This role pays $65–85/hr, depending on experience, for part-time project work on a computer. You judge robot welds and write pass or fail criteria in simulation. Scope, hours and payment terms are agreed before each project starts.
Is there remote work for welding inspectors?
Shop and field inspection isn't remote, but this is. Most contributions happen on a computer. Timing and equipment depend on the project and are set out before it starts.
Will robots replace welding inspectors?
Robots already do a lot of production welding, which makes inspection matter more, not less. Someone has to decide what a good weld is and catch the bad ones. This role is that work, applied to robots.
Do I need robotics or coding experience?
No. Each project gives you the instructions and controls for the task. We need your knowledge of the work.
How do I apply?
Fill in the application. It takes about 5 minutes and asks about your experience, your hours and one mistake a beginner makes in your work that you would spot right away. When a project needs your expertise, we reach out.
